Explosion at Los Angeles sheriff training centre: at least three dead

Tragic accident at the Biscailuz Training Centre in Los Angeles County during the handling of explosives. Investigations are underway to ascertain the causes

At least three people were killed this morning following an explosion at the Biscailuz Training Centre, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s training centre. The explosion occurred at around 7:30 a.m. local time (4:30 p.m. in Italy) at the facility located on Eastern Avenue, home to the special response unit and bomb squad.

Authorities immediately launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, which is still unknown at this time. According to the Los Angeles Times, the explosion occurred while the bomb squad was moving explosives.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi commented on X (formerly Twitter), calling the incident ‘a horrible accident’ that killed at least three people at a law enforcement training facility. California Governor Gavin Newsom has also been briefed on the situation and is closely monitoring developments.

Several American media outlets, including Fox News, report that the victims are at least three deputy sheriffs who were engaged in routine activities at the centre.
