Israel will release dozens of Palestinian prisoners in return

Hamas is expected to announce today the name of the third hostage to be released tomorrow from Gaza, along with civilian Arbel Yehoud and soldier Agam Berger (pictured left to right). According to Israeli sources, the next to be released may include Keith Siegel, 65, a US citizen, but there is no official confirmation yet.

In exchange for the hostages, Israel will release dozens of Palestinian prisoners: 30 for each civilian and 50 for soldier Berger, including prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment. The agreement is part of the ceasefire negotiations following the 7 October 2023 attack, when some 3,000 Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping 251 hostages.

To date, 87 kidnapped hostages are still in the hands of Hamas, including at least 34 confirmed dead.
