Netanyahu ill with food poisoning: corruption trial hearing postponed
Israeli prime minister forced to work from home for three days: court testimony scheduled for Monday and Tuesday postponed
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been struck down by food poisoning and will work from home for the next three days. This was announced by his office, explaining the reasons for the prime minister’s absence from the weekly government meeting.
According to the Times of Israel, Netanyahu fell ill during the night between Saturday and Sunday. Doctors diagnosed him with food poisoning caused by spoiled food. His condition is not particularly worrying, but it is preventing him from attending official appointments for the time being.
Among the postponed engagements is the prime minister’s testimony in the corruption trial against him. The hearing, already postponed to 22 and 23 July by the judges for diplomatic reasons, has been cancelled again. The postponement was requested by Netanyahu himself with the support of US President Donald Trump.
At the moment, it is unclear when the prime minister’s court appearance can be rescheduled.
