One woman killed and at least 15 injured in the accident; driver arrested

On the morning of today, 13 February 2025, at around 10.30 a.m., a car crashed into a crowd of demonstrators gathered for a trade union protest organised by the ‘Greens’ in Munich. According to initial reconstructions, the driver of a Mini Cooper allegedly accelerated and drove into the participants on Seidlstrasse. The Sueddeutsche Zeitung reports that a woman lost her life in the accident, while the police confirmed a toll of at least 15 injured.

Investigations

Authorities are investigating to determine whether the act was intentional or the result of driver error, such as confusing the accelerator and brake pedals. The driver was arrested and, according to the police, ‘poses no further danger’.

The accident deeply shocked the local and national community. The authorities set up a collection point for witnesses at the Löwenbräukeller on Stiglmaierplatz, inviting anyone with information to come forward to help with the investigation.
