Released by Hamas, Eli Sharabi learns of wife and daughters’ deaths on 7 October 2023

Eli Sharabi only learned of the family tragedy today after his release: wife and daughters killed during October assault

Eli Sharabi, the Israeli citizen released today by Hamas, only learned of his family’s death when he was reunited with his mother and sister. Taken prisoner by Kibbutz Be’eri, Sharabi was unaware of the tragedy that struck his home during the 7 October 2023 assault. His wife Lianne and daughters Noiya, aged 16, and Yahel, aged 13, were killed in the security room of their home, where they had taken refuge in an attempt to take cover.

Sharabi’s brother Yossi, also abducted, was confirmed dead, although his body is still in the hands of Hamas. Eli was apparently already aware of his brother’s death before his return home.
