Hamas receives list of 200 Palestinian prisoners due for release from Israel
Exile expected for around 70 prisoners convicted of murdering Israeli citizens
Hamas said it has received from Israel the list of 200 Palestinian prisoners to be released today in exchange for four Israeli soldiers, as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
According to the official Hamas communication, 70 Palestinian prisoners will be transferred out of Gaza and the West Bank. The agreement states that prisoners convicted of murdering Israelis will be permanently exiled, with no possibility of returning to the West Bank or Gaza.
A Palestinian official, quoted by Reuters, specified that some of the prisoners will be released in Egypt, where some will remain, while others may be received in Algeria, Qatar or Turkey. Among them could be militants involved in deadly attacks against Israeli civilians.
