Valentino Luchin, well known in the Bay Area for his cuisine, gets into trouble with the American law

Italian chef Valentino Luchin was arrested by San Francisco police on charges of robbing three banks in a single day, as reported by the Daily Mail.

A successful culinary career cut short
Luchin was well known in the Bay Area for his Italian cuisine: he had been executive chef at Rose Pistola in North Beach and owner of Ottavio in Walnut Creek, both now closed. Considered a “rising star” of Californian dining, his career came to an abrupt end with these events.

The robberies and previous incidents
The robberies took place last Wednesday in San Francisco’s Central District. According to authorities, Luchin handed cashiers handwritten notes demanding cash. The chef, who moved to the United States from Italy in 1993, had already been arrested in 2018 for robbing a Citibank branch.

Financial problems after the closure of restaurants
Since Ottavio closed in 2016, Luchin and his wife have reportedly faced serious financial difficulties, which may have contributed to the criminal act.
