Tehran accuses: ‘The United States has started a dangerous war against Iran’

The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemns the raids on nuclear sites and calls for UN intervention. The Pasdaran threaten retaliation against American bases

Iran openly accuses the United States of starting a dangerous war by striking its nuclear facilities. The accusation comes from the Foreign Ministry in Tehran and was reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency, following the raids ordered by President Donald Trump against the sites in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.

‘The world must not forget that the United States, in the midst of a diplomatic process, has betrayed diplomacy,’ reads the official statement, which stresses that the attacks violate the UN Charter and international law. Tehran warns that Washington will be held fully responsible for the consequences of what it calls ‘a criminal and brutal action.’

‘It is our right to defend ourselves’

According to the Iranian government, Iran has every right to resist military aggression and defend its national security by any means necessary. Tehran has called for urgent intervention by the United Nations and its bodies, in particular the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to address ‘this flagrant act of illegality’.

Threats from the Pasdaran: ‘US bases in the Middle East will be reduced to ashes’

Meanwhile, the Pasdaran, the Guardians of the Iranian Revolution, have issued a direct threat to the United States, warning that ‘its bases in the Middle East will be reduced to ashes’ in the event of further provocations.

Iranian Atomic Energy Agency: “We will continue our programme”

The Iranian Atomic Energy Agency also condemned the attack, calling it “barbaric” and in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). In a statement reported by the Irna agency, the agency accuses the IAEA itself of ‘complicity’ for failing to prevent the attack, and guarantees that Iran’s nuclear programme will not stop: ‘We will never allow the progress of this industry to be hindered.’
