Ninth day of the war in Iran: airstrikes hit Tehran oil facilities

New overnight strikes by the United States and Israel target Iran, while attacks and casualties are reported across the region, from Beirut to Saudi Arabia

Ninth day of the war in Iran: airstrikes hit Tehran oil facilities – The ninth day of the war in Iran unfolded on March 8 with a new wave of overnight airstrikes by the United States and Israel targeting Iranian territory. Explosions were reported in Tehran during the night and continued throughout the day, with several strategic sites hit, including five oil facilities in and around the capital.

According to Iranian officials, the attacks damaged multiple energy installations linked to the country’s oil distribution network. The strikes mark another escalation on the ninth day of the war in Iran, as the conflict spreads beyond the initial targets and tensions rise across the region.

Strikes also reported in Beirut

Israeli forces also carried out a raid in Beirut, launching an airstrike in an area associated with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Local reports said the bombing caused casualties, with both deaths and injuries confirmed, although authorities have not released a full toll.

The attack comes as hostilities linked to the ninth day of the war in Iran increasingly involve actors and locations beyond Iranian territory.

Tehran clerical body announces next supreme leader

Amid the ongoing conflict, a clerical body in Tehran announced the selection of the next supreme leader of the Islamic Republic. The announcement adds a political dimension to the crisis.

U.S. President Donald Trump responded to the development by stating that the new leadership “will not last without our approval,” signaling Washington’s continued pressure on Tehran during the ninth day of the war in Iran.

Attack on residential building in Saudi Arabia

Violence linked to the regional escalation was also reported in Saudi Arabia. According to the country’s civil protection agency, two people were killed and at least 12 others injured after an attack struck a residential building in the central governorate of Al-Kharj.

Authorities said the strike hit a housing complex, though details about the origin of the attack have not yet been confirmed.

Reports of a strike on Qeshm island

Local media also reported that the United Arab Emirates may have carried out an attack on a desalination plant on Iran’s Qeshm island. If confirmed, it would represent the first direct strike against Iran by a Gulf country during the current conflict.

Meanwhile, in Israel, Tel Aviv reported its first injuries after missiles launched from Tehran struck the area, underscoring the widening impact of the ninth day of the war in Iran.
