The US president attacks Tesla’s CEO after criticism of the ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’ ‘He receives more subsidies than anyone else in history.’

The clash between Donald Trump and Elon Musk is heating up. The US president has questioned federal subsidies for the South African magnate’s companies, saying that without such funds, Musk ‘should probably go back to South Africa.’

In a post on Truth Social, Trump quipped: ‘Elon may receive more subsidies than any other human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon should probably close up shop and go home.’ Then he added: ‘There would be no more rocket launches, satellites, electric cars. And our country would save a fortune.’ Finally, he added sarcastically: ‘Maybe we should ask DOGE to look into this carefully? A lot of money to be saved!’

Trump’s statements come a few days after Musk’s harsh criticism of the ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ the controversial bill passed by the administration, which the entrepreneur says will ‘destroy millions of jobs’ and have ‘an immense negative strategic impact.’

‘The latest Senate proposal is completely insane and destructive,’ Musk wrote on X. ‘It subsidises the industries of the past, severely damaging those of the future.’

The confrontation between the two is turning into a head-on clash between two of the most influential figures in the United States: on the one hand, a president who is focusing on traditional economic recovery, and on the other, an entrepreneur who represents technological innovation and the challenges of the future.
