Administration urges to ignore Musk’s request for workers to provide weekly details

Donald Trump’s administration has officially urged federal employees to trash the email sent by Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DoG), asking them to summarise in five points the activity carried out during the week just gone by. Musk, in a tweet over the weekend, had made it clear that those who did not respond could consider themselves out. But the Trump administration categorically denied this directive.

According to the Washington Post, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has issued an order to all federal agencies, including the FBI, urging employees not to respond to the communication. It is still considering how to handle the responses already sent by those who decided to accede to Musk’s request.

On the matter, Trump played down during a meeting with reporters in the Oval Office, stating that there is no conflict between the administration and Musk. ‘Those who have indicated they are not responding are simply stating that some people don’t have to say what they did last week. Beyond that, everyone thought the idea was brilliant.’
