Meta plans 5 per cent workforce cut in 2025
Mark Zuckerberg announces restructuring with layoffs and new hires to improve productivity
Meta is planning a 5% reduction in its workforce considered less productive this year. This was directly announced by Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s founder and CEO, in an internal communication, according to the blog ‘The Verge’.
As part of this restructuring, employees who receive a low performance evaluation, to be completed by February, will be asked to leave their positions. At the same time, Meta plans to hire new staff to fill the vacancies. Meta currently employs about 72,000 people, which means that the cut could affect about 3,600 workers.
