Iran president apologizes to neighbors, but Revolutionary Guards continue attacks. On the eighth day of the war, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued an apology to neighboring countries affected by recent attacks, attempting to ease tensions across the region.
Pezeshkian said Iran does not intend to target nearby states and announced that Tehran would halt attacks against them unless a strike against Iran originates from their territory. The statement was seen as an effort to prevent the conflict from expanding further across the Middle East.
However, the conciliatory message was partly contradicted by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (Pasdaran), who indicated that military operations would continue against Israeli and U.S. interests in the region.
Earlier in the day, Israeli forces carried out new raids on Tehran, targeting the Mehrabad airport, while Iran responded by launching drones toward Israel and against U.S. bases in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
In the Gulf, the Revolutionary Guards also claimed responsibility for an attack on the tanker Prima, accusing it of ignoring restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian forces also said they had struck another tanker linked to U.S. assets and flying the flag of the Marshall Islands.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran would be “hit very hard” because of its actions, calling the country “the loser of the Middle East” and insisting that the military campaign was justified.
Tehran has firmly rejected Washington’s demand for unconditional surrender. “Unconditional surrender? Never,” Pezeshkian said, responding directly to the conditions set by the United States to stop military operations.
