According to the Financial Times, the Cupertino giant is aiming to leave China by accelerating the decentralisation of its supply chain in response to Trump’s trade strategy

Apple is ready to completely shift the assembly of iPhones destined for the US market to India. According to reports in the Financial Times, the shift will take place as early as 2025, with the aim of producing all of the approximately 60 million devices sold annually in the US in the Asian country by the end of 2026.

The decision comes in the context of the growing trade tension between Washington and Beijing, exacerbated by President Donald Trump’s hard line against China. Indeed, the US administration has stepped up pressure on strategic technology companies to reduce their dependence on Chinese manufacturing.

Apple’s strategy, sources close to the dossier explain, goes beyond simple diversification: it is a profound relocation of the supply chain, marking a shift away from China’s historical centrality in the production of Apple devices.

In recent years, Apple has already begun a gradual expansion of its industrial presence in India, thanks in part to collaboration with partners such as Foxconn. However, the new plan represents an unprecedented acceleration that could redefine the global balance in the tech sector.

According to analysts, the move will not only reduce geopolitical risks for Apple, but will also strengthen India’s position as a world-class technology hub, stimulating further investment and infrastructure in advanced electronics.
