The investigation into the death of Gene Hackman and his wife continues without ruling out any hypotheses. What could have caused the tragic event?

Hollywood film icon Gene Hackman was found dead at the age of 95 along with his wife, Betsy Arakawa, a 63-year-old classical pianist. Their bodies were discovered at the residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the couple had lived for over 20 years. The news shocked not only the family, but also fans of Hackman, the two-time Oscar-winning actor. The circumstances of their death remain shrouded in mystery, while the police conduct a thorough investigation without ruling out any hypothesis.

Initial suspicions and the carbon monoxide trail

According to reports from the actor’s family, the most probable cause would appear to be carbon monoxide poisoning, possibly caused by a fault in the gas system. However, initial investigations have complicated this scenario. The fire brigade found no carbon monoxide leakage or signs of poisoning inside the house. A spokesman for the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the couple was found dead Wednesday afternoon, but the exact cause of death is still being investigated.

Investigation not ruling out any leads

Sheriff Adan Mendoza made enigmatic statements, explaining that the nature of the deaths is ‘quite suspicious’. No hypothesis is ruled out: it could be a double murder, an accident or even suicide. According to the preliminary report, there were no obvious signs of trauma on the bodies. The scene presented disturbing details: Betsy Arakawa was found lifeless in the bathroom with pills scattered on the floor and a displaced stove, while Hackman lay in the kitchen, fully clothed.

The neighbour’s account and the discovery of the bodies

It was a neighbour of the couple who raised the alarm, concerned about their prolonged absence. Two maintenance workers, after finding the front door open, discovered the bodies and called the police. There were also three dogs in the house: one of them was found dead next to Hackman’s wife, while the other two were unharmed, one inside and one outside the villa.

The Hackman family and the unsolved mystery

While authorities continue to investigate, the actor’s daughter, Elizabeth Jean Hackman, has expressed concerns that the cause of death could be carbon monoxide-related, but for now there is no official confirmation. The public, meanwhile, remains with bated breath, waiting for more details that may clarify the dynamics of this tragedy that has shaken Hollywood and the world.
