Gaza, Hamas accuses Israel of ‘slow death’ for Palestinian prisoners
Seven prisoners hospitalised after release, organisation alleges mistreatment
Hamas accused Israel of imposing a ‘slow death’ on prisoners held in Israeli jails, after seven of them, released as part of the ceasefire agreement on Gaza, were hospitalised in Ramallah.
‘The fact that seven prisoners were transferred to hospital immediately after their release reflects the systematic aggression and mistreatment of our prisoners by the Israeli prison authorities,’ Hamas said, adding that this “is part of the policy of the extremist Israeli government, which pursues the slow killing of prisoners inside prisons”.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club and the Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed the admissions and spoke of the need for medical care for all released prisoners.
