The Israeli Defence Forces speak of a nationwide attack. Two waves of rockets launched from Iran: explosions reported in the economic capital. Order for the population to take shelter
‘Our entire country is under attack’. This is what we read in a message posted on X by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), who ordered the population to run to shelters and remain there until further notice, in the midst of the Iranian counterattack.
Shortly before, Tel Aviv army spokesman General Effie Defrin had acknowledged that Iran would be able to inflict “considerable damage” on Israel. His words were confirmed in the minutes that followed.
According to the Times of Israel, Tehran launched a first attack with about a hundred missiles, followed by a second wave. It is estimated that between five and seven rockets fell in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
Fox News confirmed explosions in the city, broadcasting live footage from journalist Trey Yingst. Reporting from Tel Aviv, Yingst documented the missile trails and the response of Israeli defence systems in real time. ‘One of the missiles was not intercepted,’ he reported, pointing to an explosion that occurred shortly after the sighting. ‘Guys, let’s get out of here. Quickly!’ he then shouted to the crew as he left the area.
The United States is helping Israel defend itself and strike missiles launched by Iran. About 200 have been launched from Tehran so far.
