Despite the already devastating situation after the tremendous earthquake in the country, the Myanmar army has opened fire on a humanitarian aid convoy heading to the affected areas
The conflict in Myanmar has escalated further, with the army attacking a convoy of humanitarian aid heading to areas devastated by Tuesday night’s earthquake. According to reports by the BBC, military forces fired at nine vehicles in the convoy, using heavy machine guns as the convoy passed through Naung Cho, in the northern Shan region, on its way to Mandalay.
The convoy, carrying essential aid for those affected by the earthquake, had previously informed the military junta of its route. However, the army denied having been notified, adding that no people were injured in the incident. The rebel group Ta’ang National Liberation Army, which provided the information about the attack, denounced the incident as a senseless act of violence, adding to the already devastating situation created by the earthquake.
