Arrested Hamdan Ballal, director of ‘No Other Land’, attacked by settlers in the West Bank
Oscar-winning director among those injured in clashes, according to local sources
Filmmaker Hamdan Ballal, Oscar winner for best documentary with No Other Land, was arrested today by Israeli soldiers after being attacked by dozens of settlers in the West Bank. This was reported by Haaretz newspaper, explaining that Ballal was shot during the attack and later arrested despite being injured and transported by ambulance.
Yuval Abraham, co-director of the documentary, reported on ‘X’ that Ballal was ‘lynched’ and wounded in the head and stomach. His current whereabouts remain unknown and there is no information on whether he is receiving medical treatment. Palestinian sources report that the attack took place near the village of Susya, where stones were thrown at residents and homes.
The documentary No Other Land, which chronicles the destruction of the rural community of Masafer Yatta, has become world-famous, winning prestigious awards and provoking widespread controversy.
