Israel leaves the UN Human Rights Council following the US
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accuses the UN of discrimination and announces Israel’s withdrawal from the UNHCR
Israel will follow the US decision and leave the UN Human Rights Council. The announcement came from Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, who justified the decision with alleged discrimination against Israel.
‘UNHCR has traditionally protected human rights violators, allowing them to hide from scrutiny, and instead obsessively demonises the only democracy in the Middle East: Israel,’ Sa’ar wrote in X.
The decision is part of a political alignment with Donald Trump’s United States, which had already made its withdrawal from the Council official in recent weeks, denouncing its functioning and alleged bias against Israel.
