North Korean soldiers captured in Ukraine: one thought he was in training, not at war
Two North Korean soldiers were captured in Russia’s Kursk region and one of them claims he did not know he was fighting in Ukraine
During an interrogation conducted by the Ukrainian security services, one of the two captured North Korean soldiers stated that he left with the idea of participating in training and not fighting against Ukraine. The Yonhap news agency reported that the soldier had allegedly received a Russian military card last autumn, following a training programme with Russian forces. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the capture and announced the interrogation of the prisoners.
Meanwhile, Zelensky ordered an increase in the production of drones and other war equipment to strengthen the country’s defence during 2025.
