Donald Trump says war with Iran is nearing its end

The U.S. president claims American forces have severely weakened Iran’s military capabilities during the ongoing Operation Epic Fury

U.S. President Donald Trump said the military conflict with Iran could soon be over, arguing that American operations have already dealt a major blow to Tehran’s military infrastructure.

Speaking in a phone interview with CBS and later at a Republican event held at his resort in Doral, Florida, Trump described the U.S. campaign—known as Operation Epic Fury—as close to achieving its objectives.

“We are dismantling the enemy’s capabilities,” Trump said, suggesting the operation may conclude sooner than originally expected. Early projections from the White House had estimated the campaign could last between four and six weeks.

The president claimed U.S. strikes have targeted key elements of Iran’s military network, including facilities used to manufacture drones and missile systems. According to Trump, these attacks have already destroyed a large share of Iran’s launch capabilities.

He also asserted that Iran’s naval forces suffered heavy losses, stating that dozens of vessels were sunk during the offensive. The remarks were delivered as part of a broader defense of the administration’s strategy in the region.

Trump further said the campaign has focused on eliminating figures linked to militant groups aligned with Tehran. Some leaders, he suggested, have already been killed, while others remain under active pursuit.

The president’s comments come after the killing of Iran’s former supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, in an Israeli strike earlier in the crisis. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, is widely believed to have assumed the role of Supreme Leader following his father’s death.

Despite signals that the conflict may be nearing its conclusion, Trump emphasized that U.S. operations will continue until Washington considers the threat from Iran’s military and allied groups fully neutralized.

“We will not stop until the enemy is completely defeated,” the president said.
