Prince Andrew renounces titles and confirms his withdrawal from public life

Andrew said: ‘After discussions with the King and the family, we have come to the conclusion that the allegations against me distract from the mission of the monarchy. I confirm my decision five years ago to withdraw from public life.’

Andrew continues to deny allegations against him

With the King’s consent, Prince Andrew emphasised that he will no longer use any titles or honours conferred upon him, reiterating his strong denial of the allegations against him. The move marks a further step in the separation between his persona and the public engagements of the British Crown.
