Vandals deface El Al’s Paris office with anti-Israel graffiti: Israel denounces act of terrorism
Israeli airline victim of symbolic attack in the heart of Paris, diplomatic tensions rise
During the night, the Paris headquarters of El Al, Israel’s national airline, was vandalized with anti-Israeli graffiti and red paint. Phrases such as “Free Palestine” and “El Al genocidal airline” appeared on the facade and sidewalk in front of the building. According to El Al, the building was empty at the time of the attack and no employees were involved.
Israel strongly condemned the incident. Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev called the act “barbaric and violent” and asked the French authorities to identify and punish those responsible. In a post on X, Regev also accused French President Emmanuel Macron of “giving gifts to Hamas,” referring to the Elysée’s recent statement on the recognition of the State of Palestine.
The Israeli ambassador to Paris, Joshua Zarka, also spoke out, calling it an “act of terrorism” aimed at intimidating El Al employees and Israeli citizens, creating a climate of hostility. The company reiterated its pride in flying the Israeli flag on its planes and condemned all forms of violence, particularly those motivated by anti-Semitism.
The incident comes amid growing tensions in Paris: in early June, several Jewish sites were defaced with green paint and three Serbian citizens were arrested on charges of acting on behalf of a foreign power, presumably Russia.
