Israel-Iran, IDF urges Iranian civilians to leave areas near military bases. Tehran: ‘We will stop when they stop.’
Israeli army warns Iranian citizens: ‘Your lives are in danger.’ Tehran responds: ‘Ours is legitimate defence.’
Tensions between Israel and Iran continue to rise. In a statement released today, Sunday 15 June, on X, the Israeli army (IDF) called on Iranian civilians to immediately leave areas near military installations. The message, published in Arabic and Farsi by spokesman Avichay Adraee, is clear: ‘Your lives are in danger.’
The warning has been interpreted by many observers as a sign of a possible escalation of the remote conflict between the two countries, after weeks of accusations, cyber attacks and bellicose statements.
In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi defended Tehran’s position, stating: ‘We are defending ourselves; our defence is entirely legitimate. If the aggression stops, our responses will naturally stop too.’
Araghchi spoke during a meeting with diplomatic representatives, stressing that attacks against Israel will continue until, in his words, Israel ends its military campaign against Iran.
