Four women hostages will be released tomorrow: wait for the names

Hamas has confirmed that today it will make public the names of the four women hostages who, under the truce agreement with Israel, will be released tomorrow, Saturday 25 January. Zaher Jabarin, a senior Hamas official, said the list will be handed over to mediators. This release represents the second exchange under the agreement, which provides for the release of 30 Palestinian detainees for each civilian hostage and 50 if it is a military one.

Waiting for the next releases

Among the 33 hostages Hamas has promised to release are seven women, including Shiri Silberman Bibas, kidnapped with her family, and Arbel Yehud, a German-Israeli woman captured in 2023. Yehud was expected in the first exchange, but her release was postponed.

Special attention is also paid to the five female soldiers of the Israeli electronic surveillance unit. The young women, kidnapped in a raid on the Nahal Oz base, were featured in propaganda videos circulated by Hamas. Among them Karina Ariev, who appeared pleading for Israeli government intervention, and Naama Levy, seen in footage with signs of mistreatment.
