SuperG in Bormio: Fall for Swiss Gino Caviezel, rescued by helicopter

The Swiss skier slips dozens of metres after hitting a door and deploying his airbag. His condition is not yet known

During the World Cup Super-G in Bormio, Swiss skier Gino Caviezel fell after missing a gate, sliding dozens of metres down the slope. The impact triggered the skier’s airbag, who was immediately rescued by doctors and transported away by helicopter.

The Swiss federation has not yet released an official statement on Caviezel’s condition, but there are fears of an injury to his right leg, after the skier slammed his left hand into one of the course poles.
