The health condition of Pope Francis, who has been hospitalised since 14 February at the Policlinico Gemelli in Rome, remains ‘stable in complexity’, according to the Vatican Press Office. However, the Pontiff’s prognosis remains reserved, with risks still present. No official medical bulletin has been issued today, 7 March, but an update is expected tomorrow evening.
Pope’s Treatments and Activities During the Day
Pope Francis continues to receive high-flow oxygen therapy during the day and uses an oxygen mask at night to improve the quality of his rest. His day was spent between moments of rest, prayer and some light work. In addition, respiratory physiotherapy continues, along with treatment for bilateral pneumonia.
This morning, the Pope went to the little chapel adjacent to his room for about twenty minutes, accompanied by the medical staff, to gather in prayer. Afterwards, he resumed some work activities in a reduced form.
The Pope’s Message of Thanksgiving to the Faithful
Yesterday, the Pontiff recorded a short audio message from the hospital, in which he expressed gratitude for the prayers received from the faithful. In a tired voice, Pope Francis thanked in Spanish those present in St. Peter’s Square, where the Rosary is prayed every evening for his health.
‘I sincerely thank you for your prayers for my health from the Square, I accompany you from here. May God bless you and may the Virgin protect you. Thank you,’ said the Pope, showing his affection and spiritual closeness to the faithful.
The Pontiff faces his therapies with courage and continues to carry out some of his daily activities, despite his delicate state of health. The prayers and support of the faithful remain a source of comfort at this difficult time for Pope Francis.
