Epstein, Maxwell and Weinstein were guests of Prince Andrew in 2006 at his private residence in Windsor, two months after Epstein was issued with an arrest warrant for sexual abuse

New embarrassing details emerge about the relationship between the British royal family and Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew hosted Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and Harvey Weinstein at the Royal Lodge, his private residence in the grounds of Windsor Castle, for his daughter Beatrice’s 18th birthday ball in 2006. According to the BBC, the visit took place just two months after an arrest warrant was issued in the United States against Epstein for sexual assault on a minor.

Prince Andrew hosted Epstein at his private residence in Windsor

There had been talk in the past of the three being at Windsor Castle, but not of them being hosted at the Royal Lodge, owned by the Crown Estate and currently the residence of the Duke of York, who is now in negotiations to leave. Epstein, Maxwell and Weinstein reportedly arrived at the villa before the main party, which took place in the castle’s reception rooms, with a reception and banquet.

Prince Andrew’s statements

Speaking to the BBC in 2019, Andrew explained that he was unaware of the arrest warrant against Epstein at the time of the invitation, claiming that he only learned about it from the media. Epstein was arrested in Florida eight days after the party. Prince Andrew also hosted Epstein on other occasions: at Balmoral in 1999, at Windsor in 2000 and even at Sandringham, where he organised an event for Maxwell’s birthday.

Links to Epstein and Virginia Giuffre’s allegations

Earlier this month, the Duke renounced his titles following the posthumous publication of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, in which she accused him of having sex with her on three occasions, one of which was in Epstein’s presence. Andrew, who reached a financial settlement with Giuffre in 2022, has always denied any wrongdoing, stating that he does not even remember meeting her.

The protagonists of the accusations and convictions

Epstein took his own life in 2019 in a New York prison while awaiting trial for sex trafficking. His partner Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence in the United States for recruiting underage girls. Harvey Weinstein, also a guest of Prince Andrew who hosted Epstein, was convicted of sexual assault but has been granted a new trial on some charges.
