Israeli Defense Forces confirm death of Basij commander Golam Reza Soleimani and other senior officials in coordinated raids
Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, was killed while hiding in a shelter with his son, according to Israeli Channel 12. The Israeli airstrike targeting Larijani had originally been scheduled for the night between Sunday and Monday but was postponed at the last minute. Yesterday afternoon, intelligence indicated that Larijani would move to one of his apartments used as a safe house, prompting the order to strike.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that Golam Reza Soleimani, commander of the Basij paramilitary forces, was killed in an airstrike in Tehran. Soleimani was targeted along with other senior officers at a temporary tent-based headquarters established after their main facility had been destroyed, according to Ynet.
Additionally, the IDF reported that Seyyed Karishi, the deputy commander of the Basij, was killed in a separate airstrike in Shiraz.
