Musk confirms: ‘US president asked us to intervene’
Donald Trump said on Truth that he had asked Elon Musk and SpaceX to retrieve astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, stranded on the International Space Station after the failed re-entry of Boeing’s Starliner capsule. ‘They have been virtually abandoned by the Biden Administration,’ Trump wrote, wishing Musk ‘good luck’.
Shortly before, Musk himself had confirmed SpaceX’s intervention on X, harshly criticising the government’s handling of the affair. The astronauts’ return, initially scheduled for June 2023, has been postponed several times and is now scheduled for late March.
