US President-elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Tilman J. Fertitta as the new US Ambassador to Italy. The 67-year-old entrepreneur, known for owning the Houston Rockets basketball team, was praised by Trump for his success in real estate and entertainment, as well as his philanthropic efforts. ‘Congratulations to Tilman and his amazing family,’ Trump wrote on the Truth social network.

Tilman Fertitta is an accomplished businessman with extensive experience in the real estate and entertainment industries, having founded one of the largest companies in these fields in the United States. His companies employ around 50,000 people, and Fertitta has demonstrated a strong dedication to philanthropic causes, supporting initiatives for children, law enforcement and medical communities. In addition to serving as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Houston, Fertitta is known for his involvement in sports as owner of the Houston Rockets.
