US pilot in Iran delayed contact due to concussion

Israeli Channel 12 reports the F-15 weapons officer was unconscious after ejecting, regaining communication only hours later

A US pilot in Iran delayed contact due to concussion after ejecting from an F-15, leaving him unable to communicate with American forces for several hours, according to a report by Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 citing anonymous sources.

The crew member, identified as the aircraft’s weapons systems officer, was reportedly unconscious after landing in Iranian territory on Friday morning. His physical condition prevented any immediate attempt to establish contact.

Communication was restored only around noon, Israel time, when the serviceman managed to reach elevated ground in an effort to avoid detection.

After regaining consciousness, he is said to have traveled on foot for 10 to 12 kilometers before taking shelter in a crevice to remain hidden. It was only later in the evening that he was able to transmit his precise location to US forces.

The delay in communication directly affected the timing of the recovery operation, complicating efforts to locate the serviceman in a hostile environment.

According to the same sources, Israel provided targeted intelligence support and refrained from striking in the area to avoid jeopardizing the rescue—an account that differs from the official US position, which has described Israeli assistance as more general.
