The man, considered one of the founders of the armed wing of the Islamist movement, was involved in the attacks of 7 October

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet announced that they had killed Hacham Muhammad Issa al-Issa, a central figure in Hamas’ military wing, in Gaza City. This was announced by a military spokesperson, according to Ynet, who described him as one of the founding members of the group’s armed wing.

According to Israeli authorities, al-Issa served as head of combat support staff and played a direct role in the preparation and execution of the attacks on 7 October, which triggered the current phase of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

He was killed yesterday evening during a targeted operation in the Gaza Strip. The operation is part of Israel’s efforts to target Hamas’s military structures and leadership, particularly those responsible for attacks against Israeli civilians.
