Immediate military retaliation after missile interception: Houthi strategic targets hit, heavy casualties and damage to oil infrastructure
Israel reacted quickly to the launch of a missile from Yemen, intercepted by the IdF (Israel Defence Forces), with a series of air raids against military targets of the Houthi rebels in the Middle Eastern country. The attacks, which occurred less than an hour after interception, targeted several key infrastructures of the Shia militias, located both along the west coast and in the Yemeni hinterland, according to the Israeli military.
Israeli forces precisely targeted the nerve centres of the Houthi military capability in an attempt to reduce the threat of missile launches from the region, which is notoriously unstable and an ally of Iran. The explosions caused by the raids also shook the capital Sanaa, as reported by the Jerusalem Post, causing a series of violent outbursts that alarmed the local population.
The consequences of the attacks were particularly severe in the region of Ras Issa, where an oil site was heavily hit. Local media, although without immediate confirmation, spoke of at least nine casualties, all related to the energy facility. Three Yemeni ports were temporarily closed due to the dangerous situation, further complicating the tense situation in the war-torn country.
