The American president arrives in Scotland and attacks the EU on immigration and renewable energy: ‘You are ruining your countries.’
There is only a ‘50%’ chance of reaching a trade agreement with the European Union, but ‘that’s already a lot’. This was stated by US President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters after his arrival in Scotland. ‘We will meet with Brussels,’ he said, ‘and if we reach an agreement, it will be the most important one ever.’
Trump did not miss the opportunity to return to attacking European policies on immigration and the environment, particularly those related to renewable energy. ‘I have two things to say to Europe: stop immigration and stop wind turbines. You are ruining yourselves,’ he thundered. “We, in the United States, had no entries last month. We closed the borders and expelled many dangerous individuals who entered under the Biden presidency, which has been a total disaster.”
He also levelled harsh criticism at wind power: ‘Fly over Europe and you see wind turbines everywhere. They ruin the fields, the valleys, they kill birds. And at sea, they destroy your oceans,’ Trump said, calling European environmental policies a failure.
The president concluded with a warning: ‘Some European leaders are opposing this, but they are not getting any recognition. I could name names, but I don’t want to embarrass anyone.’
