At least 14 people, including women and children, were killed and 30 others wounded in new Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip that began in the early hours of today. The Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that an airstrike hit a tent with displaced people in Izbat Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, while another raid targeted a residential area in the town of Beit Hanoun. Overnight bombings also hit homes in Gaza City, intensifying the already dramatic death toll.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a telephone conversation with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump overnight. The news was also relayed by the Times of Israel, which mentioned the situation in Syria among the topics discussed, particularly after the fall of the Assad regime.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, speaking yesterday from Amman, Jordan, stressed that Israel has already achieved its basic military objectives aimed at preventing a recurrence of attacks like the one on Oct. 7.
