Marseille, man with knife attacks and injures four people before being killed

The attack took place in the city centre: the attacker was shot dead by the police

Moments of panic in the heart of Marseille, where a man armed with a knife attacked several passers-by in the first arrondissement, in Cours Belsunce, not far from La Canebière. The incident occurred at around 2.45 p.m. today. According to reports by TF1 Info and confirmed by the police, at least four people were injured. The condition of the victims is not yet known.

The intervention of the police
The attacker was killed by officers who arrived on the scene and used firearms to neutralise him. At 4.30 p.m., the area was still cordoned off by the police and judiciary, with a large security perimeter established to allow for investigations.

The area of the attack
Cours Belsunce, in the centre of the French port city, is an area also known for drug trafficking. The attack, which took place in broad daylight in front of numerous witnesses, caused panic among passers-by.
