Sinner defeats Djokovic: first Wimbledon final for the Italian
Jannik dominates in three sets (6-3, 6-3, 6-4) and aims for the title against Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner reaches his first Wimbledon final, defeating Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in a semi-final he dominated from start to finish. The Italian, currently ranked number 1 in the world, took advantage of an early break to control the game, replicating his superiority in the following sets and closing out the match in quick succession.
Sinner imposed his fast pace and unwavering mental strength, constantly troubling Djokovic, who appeared to be in slight physical discomfort, with signs of adductor pain. Djokovic attempted to react by putting the South Tyrolean under pressure, but Sinner maintained control, coming back from 3-0 down to the Serb and closing out the third set 6-4.
Now the 23-year-old Italian awaits Carlos Alcaraz in the final, who previously defeated Taylor Fritz in four sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6); the Spaniard will be looking to secure his third consecutive victory at Wimbledon. The outcome of the match will be revealed on Sunday.
