Marquez brothers double in MotoGP Thailand GP: Marc triumphs, Alex second
Marc Marquez takes his second consecutive victory, while Alex follows him on the podium. Pecco Bagnaia third, completing an all-Ducati podium
Yet another one-two for the Marquez brothers in the Thai GP. After dominating in the Sprint Race, Marc and Alex Marquez replicated the feat in the long race as well, with Marc Marquez taking the win riding the factory Ducati, ahead of his brother Alex on a Team Gresini Ducati. Pecco Bagnaia finished third, completing an all-Ducati podium. Franco Morbidelli followed, fifth the Aprilia of rookie Ai Ogura and sixth Marco Bezzecchi. Bad news for Acosta and Mir, who left the scene, while Fernandez retired.
Marc Marquez dominates the race and the world standings.
The race saw Marc Marquez get off to a great start and immediately take the lead. However, with 19 laps to go, Alex Marquez passed his older brother, who seemed to have slowed down on purpose to get in Alex’s slipstream, possibly due to a tire problem. With three laps to go, Marc then retook the lead of the race, thus taking his 63rd top-class victory and his 112th podium finish in MotoGP. This triumph keeps him at the top of the world rider standings, ahead of Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia.
