Kovalenko (Ukraine): ‘Peace will only come when Russia stops bombing’
The head of the Ukrainian Centre Against Disinformation responds to Trump’s statements on Russia’s peace signals, reiterating that the war cannot end as long as Moscow continues its attacks
Donald Trump’s words that ‘the Russians are giving signs of peace and negotiations’ find a sharp response from Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Ukrainian National Defence and Security Council’s Centre for Combating Disinformation. In a post on Telegram, Kovalenko stated that such statements will only have meaning when Russia stops bombing Ukraine every day with missiles and drones.
Kovalenko pointed out that as long as Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to ignore the US ceasefire proposal, peace will remain a distant goal. ‘For now, Putin is dismissing the US president’s idea of a ceasefire,’ he added, stressing that any sign of peace should be accompanied by concrete actions.
