Hamas announces release of 4 hostages: names to be given to mediators tomorrow

Hamas announces release of 4 hostages: names to be given to mediators tomorrow

The statement comes from the head of the Hamas faction in the West Bank, Zahar Jabarin, to Qatar’s al-Arabi channel

Zahar Jabarin, head of the Hamas faction in the West Bank, said that ‘tomorrow the names of the four kidnapped people who will be released on Saturday will be provided to the mediators’. Jabarin’s words refer to the second release of the first phase of the ongoing agreement, which provides for a series of progressive releases as part of an understanding reached with international mediation.

The agreement stipulated that the first group of Israeli hostages, three women, would be released on the first day of the truce. On Saturday, a further four hostages held by Hamas since 7 October 2023 are expected to be released.
