Overnight attacks in the Gaza Strip, US Navy intervention in the Gulf of Aden, and meeting between Netanyahu’s wife and Trump in Florida
Overnight, Israeli forces shelled houses in the northern Gaza Strip. According to Palestinian medical sources, at least 15 people were killed in a building in the town of Beit Lahia. Other people are reported injured or missing after a house used as a shelter for displaced people was hit, the Palestinian Civil Emergency Service said.
IDF confirms death of hostage
Omer Maxim Neutra, a 21-year-old Israeli-American citizen kidnapped on 7 October in the Gaza border area, was declared dead while in captivity in the Strip. The IDF confirmed that the young man’s body is still in the enclave.
Gulf of Aden: Houthi attack on US ships
In the Gulf of Aden, US Navy destroyers shot down seven missiles and drones launched by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The attacks were directed against three US warships and three merchant ships they were escorting. According to the US Central Command, the destroyers USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane destroyed ballistic missiles, drones and an anti-ship cruise missile. No damage or injuries were reported, while the Houthis claimed the attack, saying they also hit ‘American supply ships’.
Sara Netanyahu meets Donald Trump
Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, met with President-elect Donald Trump at his golf course in Florida. In a social media post, Netanyahu said she discussed with Trump Israel’s ‘strategic victory in the war’ and the urgency of freeing the hostages still being held.
