Parola chiave primaria: restrizioni carburante aeroporti Italia Parole chiave singole per WordPress: aeroporti, carburante, Italia, Bologna, Linate, Treviso, Venezia, Air Bp Italia, voli-- -- --Trump rilancia l’ultimatum all’Iran: “48 ore o sarà inferno”

Israel occupies Mount Hermon: new strategic dynamics in the Middle East

Syria’s highest peak under Israeli control: strategic and security implications

Israel has recently gained control of Mount Hermon, Syria’s highest peak at 2,814 meters (8,814 feet). This strategic move places Damascus, the Syrian capital, just 40 kilometers away, in full Israeli artillery range. For decades, Mount Hermon, one of the Middle East’s most important natural fortresses, had been a barrier to Israeli defensive capabilities. Now, control of the peak offers Israel an unprecedented geographic advantage.

Elimination of radar vulnerabilities

Prior to this conquest, Israeli radars suffered from a significant “blind spot,” especially in surveillance of Mount Hermon and parts of Lebanon. This limitation was often exploited by Iranian drones, which penetrated Israeli territory at low altitude. With control of the peak, Israel has improved its monitoring capabilities, extending radar coverage to much of Lebanon and Syria. This development provides earlier warning against potential air threats.

Benefits for intelligence and surveillance

Mount Hermon’s strategic location enables Israel to install advanced sensors to intercept enemy communications and conduct more effective intelligence operations. In addition, the lay of the land provides ideal cover for special forces operations, enhancing Israel’s ability to act safely behind enemy lines.

Impact on Hezbollah operations

Israeli control of Mount Hermon has directly impacted Hezbollah’s activities in southern Lebanon. The mountain dominates the main communication routes to the Beqaa Valley, the organization’s operational heartland. With the closure of several smuggling routes, Hezbollah’s operational capabilities have been significantly reduced, limiting the trafficking of weapons and supplies.

Enhanced security and defense

The capture of Mount Hermon strengthens the security of northern Israel. Hostile forces, such as ISIS, HTS, Iran or Hezbollah, now find themselves exposed to more effective control through the use of drones, precision missiles and laser-guided bombs. This enhanced control improves the perception of security among Israeli residents of the northern areas.
